The California State Lottery jackpot starts at a minimum of $7 million and has gotten as high as $315 million. When there is no winner to take the jackpot, the prize money is rolled over to the next drawing and keeps accumulating until there is a jackpot winner.
California Super Lotto draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday at 7:57 PM. The draw is conducted in two parts. First, five main numbers are drawn from a set a rubber balls numbered from 1 to 47. Then the additional Mega Number is pulled from a different set of rubber balls numbered from 1 to 27.
There are nine ways to win the California Super Lotto. To win the jackpot players must match all five of the main winning numbers between 1 and 47, as well as the Mega Number between 1 and 27. There are eight additional prize levels for matching less of the winning numbers. There is also a prize for those players who matched only the Mega Number. A California Super Lotto ticket costs one dollar to play.
California Super Lotto jackpot winners may choose to receive their winnings in 26 annual payments. The payments are given out on a graduated basis, meaning that every year the payment increases slightly from the previous year. The second option is to receive their jackpot winnings in a single cash payment that is worth between 50% and 60% of the advertised jackpot. The advertised jackpot is the sum of all annuity payments and the interest that would be accumulated over the years.
The California Super Lotto jackpot starts at $7 million dollars. The jackpot increases when there are no jackpot winners and the funds are added to the following draw which keeps rolling over to the next draw until there is a winner. The amount of the other eight prize level prizes is dependant in the revenue raised from ticket sales and the total of winners in the prize levels. The funds in each prize level are distributed between all the winners in that prize level.
All California Super Lotto prize winners must come forward to claim their prize within 180 days of the draw. California Super Lotto jackpot winners have 60 days from the winning draw date to decide in which manner they would prefer to receive their win- in cash or in annuity payments. Prizes that are not claimed in time are forwarded to the education fund in addition to the regular payments made to the fund.
Players of California Super Lotto must be at least 18 years if age to play or claim prizes.
